Archive Note

Souza specializes in hyper-realism with an emphasis on portraiture, describing his aim as making an image on the body convincing enough that a viewer questions whether it is the real object, and he takes particular pride in portraits of culturally significant figures, citing his work depicting the Brazilian Formula 1 driver Ayrton Senna. He came to tattooing as an adult after a varied earlier life across several trades and study, taking a tattoo course out of curiosity, and has moved through several studios over his career in a continual pursuit of improvement. His Sao Paulo studio houses additional artists and runs courses and workshops, and he has tattooed and appeared at events in Argentina, the United States, and Portugal.
