Archive Note
Jorgensen trained in Copenhagen in the early 1980s and worked alongside the veteran Danish tattooist Ole Hansen in the Nyhavn quarter before founding Royal Tattoo in Helsingor, the port city on the Oresund, in 1983, where it has run continuously since and is consistently described as one of the most respected studios in Europe. He specializes in Japanese-style work, noted for bold line work, saturated color, and large-scale composition, alongside Western traditional tattooing, and has accumulated a large body of competition awards over four decades. In 2014 the Italian publisher Tattoo Life issued a career retrospective book, The Royal Tribute, pairing a survey of his work with tributes from a large group of fellow artists.
