Archive Note

Gogue did his first tattoo in August 1999 in Northern California and built an international reputation for fluid, dynamic compositions that blend Japanese-inspired and Art Nouveau influences with a fine-art painter's handling of value, color, and edge, working in both color and black-and-grey; he cites Filip Leu and Shige among his influences. He owns and operates 26 Swords Tattoo in Grants Pass, which from around March 2012 operated for a period as the Off the Map Tattoo Northwest location with Gogue as head artist. His awards and recognition are cited across England, France, Italy, Australia, the United States, and Japan, and alongside client work he runs a substantial teaching practice of seminars, workshops, and webinars; he also paints in oil.
