Born in San Francisco and raised in San Rafael from the age of three, Trelaun received his first tattoo from Theo Mindell on his eighteenth birthday, briefly worked as a shop assistant in Oakland, then apprenticed under Mindell at Spider Murphy's Tattoo, whom he credits as the biggest influence on how he tattoos and paints. He holds a painting degree from the San Francisco Art Institute and carries that fine-art sensibility into traditional flash, taking classic designs as a foundation and building his own spin from older circus art, Victorian imagery, and the skateboard graphics he grew up with. In 2020 he opened Shangri-La Tattoo in San Rafael with his business partner Bryan Randolph, and he also works part time as a resident at Black Heart Tattoo in San Francisco. He is American-born of French heritage, not a France-based artist.
