Archive Note

Fite worked in East Nashville, Tennessee, where he co-owned Gold Club Electric Tattoo at 1008C Woodland Street in the Five Points area and ran its day-to-day operations. He worked in an iron factory before and through the start of his apprenticeship, and a magazine profile recalls that early on he worked extensively from commercial flash sheets, including Spaulding and Rogers sheets, before he was permitted to tattoo his own designs; his mature work was bold, high-contrast American traditional, and the profile called him a man of few words whose tattoos spoke for themselves. He tattooed for about twenty-one years, placing his start around 1997, and died on the night of January 8, 2018 in his vehicle on his way home, survived by his wife Lisa and three children. Out of respect, only what the sources state is recorded, with no reconstruction of the crash.
