Born in 1981 in New Haven, Connecticut, Baxter began tattooing in 2000 and has worked in Austin since 2008. He calls his approach color surrealism, combining a meticulous realism-painting method with bold traditional tattoo sensibilities across illustrative, biomechanical, and bio-organic imagery in both color and black-and-grey. He is a co-owner of Art Realm Tattoo, the appointment-only, fine-art-focused Austin studio founded in 2014 by Andrew Matela; Baxter first connected with the studio through a 2017 painting workshop in its gallery and joined as co-owner in 2018. Beyond tattooing he maintains an exhibiting painting practice spanning still life, landscape, figurative, and surrealist work, and produces educational products and workshops for other artists.
